Moruga Police are investigating a homicide that stunned the rural community on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, around 11:35 pm, a resident of Penal Rock Road visited the Moruga Police Station and reported that he was driving along the said street when he saw a man lying motionless at the side of the road.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers saw the aftermath of a deadly shooting. A white 10-wheeler Nissan truck had its engine running with the headlights on and the driver’s door open. A gold Hyundai Accent was parked in front of the truck.
A short distance away, the bullet-riddled bodies of two men were found motionless. The elder male was facedown in a drain while the other was on the grass along the roadway. They were subsequently identified as 41-year-old truck driver Alvin Simms and his 19-year-old son Hakim Simms.
The bodies have since been removed to the Forensic Science Centre where post mortems are expected to be conducted.
Meanwhile, crime scene personnel retrieved five 5.56 mm spent shell casings, one 5.56 mm live round of ammunition and other items of evidential value.
Both vehicles were wrecked to the Moruga Police Station.
