“Keep dancing,” former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tweeted on Sunday, expressing her personal support for Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, whose penchant for partying has garnered international attention.
Clinton’s post included a photo of herself dancing in a crowded club with a big smile on her face during a 2012 trip to Colombia while still secretary of state. “Keep dancing, Sanna Marin,” it said at the end.
Marin quickly replied, tweeting, “Thank you, Hillary Clinton,” with a heart emoji.
Marin was seen dancing and partying with a group of friends and celebrities in a recently leaked video.
Critics said it was inappropriate behaviour for a prime minister, while others defended the 36-year-old politician’s right to attend a private event with friends, including Clinton.
Marin told her Social Democratic colleagues that it was important to have fun from time to time.
“I am a human being. In the midst of these dark clouds, I, too, yearn for joy, light, and fun “Marin, the world’s youngest prime minister, stated She went on to say that she had not missed “a single day of work.”
However, she faced additional backlash when a photo of two women lifting their tops during a party at the prime minister’s residence in July surfaced.
Marin apologised once more.
Clinton, 74, served as Secretary of State under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013.
She ran as the Democratic candidate for President of the United States in 2016. Despite being heavily favoured, she was defeated in a stunning upset by real estate mogul Donald Trump.
