A man is in custody after the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office issued a “shelter in place” for residents Monday morning as multiple law enforcement agencies searched for an armed robbery suspect.
Police are actively attempting to apprehend the suspect, according to a press statement released by Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was armed with a handgun and fled on foot to Villa Mobile Home Park in Fernley.
On Sunday, the unidentified male suspect carjacked a vehicle in Las Vegas, according to the press release.
Law enforcement officials believe that the same vehicle was used as a getaway car in an armed robbery at a gas station in Hawthorne Monday morning.
NHP troopers located and attempted to stop the vehicle in Fallon.
NHP and Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies pursued the suspect as he headed towards Fernley. The suspect eventually crashed at a roundabout.
Then, the suspect fled on foot to the mobile home park.
The Nevada Highway Patrol and deputies from the Lyon, Washoe and Carson City sheriff’s offices responded.
